LOST AND FOUND
Danny O'Toole,
on the last day of school,
stood at the Lost and Found tables,
digging through jackets
and old tennis rackets,
checking the tags and the labels.
And here's what he found
while looking around...
His jump rope, his yo-yo,
his hat, and his flute,
a pen and a pencil,
a watch and a boot,
his lunch box and thermos,
two gloves and a spare,
his history homework,
his blue underwear,
a football, a baseball,
and three bathroom passes,
his bicycle helmet,
his broken eyeglasses,
a shoe and a ruler,
one sock and another,
his sweater, his scarf,
and his littlest brother.
"Oh, what a relief!"
shouted Dan, feeling clever.
"I thought that this hat
would be missing forever!"
